In the land of gods and monsters there is a Woman.
She presses her temple against the earth in hopes that it will swallow.
Her nails are roots that extend to the edge, but her eyes are greyed and hollowed.
In the land of gods and monsters there is a Woman.
The flutter of her eyelids cause the breeze and her lashes cause the wind.
Her belly is a home and her heart is a harness but the use of her voice is a sin.
In the land of gods and monsters there is a Woman.
She reaps and sows and weeps and knows the gods allowed her life.
A planted tree that won’t bend nor break, a flower made into a knife.
In the land of gods and monsters there is a Woman.
She sits uncomfortably with a beauteous smile that traps in all the fear
Because while this land may not hold “men”, hell is empty and all the monsters are here.
